JEWELS AT THE CINEMA
On the one hundredth anniversary of business (1924-2024), Pandolfini, the oldest Auction House in Italy, chose the Cinema Festival of Rome to celebrate the history of the jewel with the exclusive event “Roma: films, divas and jewels” curated by Amanda Triossi, internationally acclaimed jewellery expert
and historian. On 17th October last the series of events organized to mark the centenary closed in grand style, hosting a special event in the Roman branch on Via Margutta 54, in which extraordinary jewels, actresses and history of cinema intertwined in a story marked by personal anecdotes, curiosities and famous moments from the recent past. On the prestigious occasion Amanda Triossi, with her long-time experience between Auction Houses and Fashion Houses, unfolded an evocative suggestive narrative that recalled the personal meetings, anecdotes, and history of the jewel, impersonated by divas of Italian and international cinema, whose extraordinary collections have built the world’s cinematic imagination. From Anna Magnani to Liz Taylor, to the mythical Gina Lollobrigida, the exhibition retraced the fabulous years of “Hollywood on the Tiber” when the divas loved to wear their jewels on the film sets. There was a special connection between the actresses of the past and their jewels, all rigorously “real” as they were the property of the divas who wore them.
