 The Art Rooms
After two years of online events, MUSEOCITY 2022 returns in presence on the territory, thanks to the participation of over 90 public and private institutions of Milan, Bergamo and Brescia. From 4 to 6 March 2022 the museums involved opened their physical or virtual doors, offering a programme with hundreds of appointments, guided tours, workshops for children, conferences, meetings, extraordinary openings and special initiatives, all sharing the theme “The Art Rooms”. In Milan, four special guided tours were arranged with the
assistance of professional tour guides, in association with MuseoCity. The itineraries took the interested parties through the streets of the city, offering the possibility to discover the institutions of the circuit from a new point of view. One of the most striking “Art Rooms” visited was ORNELLA BIJOUX, “A historical shop of Milan,” in its home on Via Monte Cervino 4. In the company of the art director Simona Scala and the curator Elisabetta Invernici, the visitors were able to relive the history of the jewel from the 20th century to the present day. Founded in 1944, ORNELLA BIJOUX is now one of the world’s best known and prestigious brands of handmade costume jewellery and haute couture: all its jewels, brooches, rings, necklaces, earrings, jewellery sets, and diadems are handmade, personalised with artisan finishes and decorated with motifs inspired by the world of nature, art, and classical jewellery. In her studio in the heart of Milan, Maria Vittoria Albani (who passed away in 2019), icon of handmade costume jewellery and eclectic designer and, currently, her daughter Simona Scala, have succeeded each other. In the studio, which is also a workshop, museum and art temple, Simona works and transforms sparkling pearls, enamelled metals, shells smoothed by the sea, painted wood, Murano glass, vintage ceramics and Swarovski crystals, into unique and timeless jewels.
