  At the Fine Jewels auction of 9 February 2023 in London, Sotheby's proposed a lot of eleven of the most iconic jewels of the famous jewellery designer Andrew Grima (1921-2007), from the collection of a single owner. It provides a
complete overview of the works and style of the artist, as it covers a period from the 1960s to the 2000s, confirming that after half a century Grima’s works remain highly collectable and qualify him as one of the biggest modernist jewellery designers of the 20th century. Andrew Grima’s journey in the jewellery world is due more to accidental circumstances than a specific plan. Initially, the artist, born in Rome to a Maltese father and Italian mother, moves with his family to London where he studies at St. Joseph’s College before enrolling in the mechanical engineering faculty of Nottingham University. During the Second World War he was recruited in the 7th Indian Division in Burma as an army engineer. On his return to England, he nurtured his passion for drawing and painting and, in the meantime, in 1946 he entered his future father-in-law’s jewellery
