LA CROCE ATTALLAH
Nel corso di una serrata gara fra quattro contendenti all’asta online “Royal and Noble” da Sotheby's di Londra, lo scorso gennaio, la famosa attrice, modella e imprenditrice americana Kim Kardashian si è aggiudicata il possesso di un magnifico pendente a forma di croce, chiamato “The Attallah Cross”. L’esclusivo gioiello, creato negli anni '20 dai gioiellieri di corte Garrard, era stato indossato in esclusiva dalla Principessa Diana, frequentatrice dello storico negozio Garrard in Regent Street. La splendida croce veniva data in prestito a Lady D. dal proprietario e amico Naim Attallah CBE, in diverse occasioni mondane, fra cui il Gala londinese di beneficenza del 1987. La croce è stata indossata solo dalla Principessa e, dopo la sua morte, non è mai più apparsa in pubblico fino ad ora. Lo straordinario pendente, impreziosito da ametiste, oro, argento e diamanti per un peso totale di 5,25 carati, è stato acquistato da Kim Kardashian per la cifra di 163,800 sterline (euro 187.290, dollari 197,453), pari al doppio della stima pre-asta. Come afferma Kristian Spofforth, Head of Jewellery di Sotheby’s London: "Questo è un gioiello audace per dimensioni, colore e stile che non può non costituire una vitale asserzione, sia che si tratti di fede o di moda o addirittura di entrambi. Siamo lieti che questo pezzo abbia trovato una nuova prospettiva di vita nelle mani di un altro nome famoso in tutto il mondo”.
THE ATTALLAH CROSS
During a tight contest between four contenders at the “Royal and Noble” online auction by Sotheby’s of London, last January, the famous actress, model and American businesswoman Kim Kardashian won possession of a magnificent cross-shaped pendant called “The Attallah Cross”. The exclusive jewel, created in the 1920s by the court jeweller Garrard, was worn exclusively by
Princess Diana, who attended the historical shop of Garrard on Regent Street. The magnificent cross was given on loan to Lady D. by its owner and friend Naim Attallah CBE, on several social occasions, including the London Charity Gala of 1987. The cross was only worn by the Princess, and, after her death, it never appeared again in public until today. The extraordinary pendant, embellished by amethysts, gold, silver, and diamonds, weighing a total of 5.25 carats, was purchased by Kim Kardashian for 163,800 pounds (187,290 euro, 197,453 dollars), equal to double the pre-auction estimate. As Kristian Spofforth, Head of Jewellery of Sotheby’s London states: “This is a bold piece of jewellery in terms of size, colour and style which cannot fail to make a vibrant statement, whether it be of faith or fashion, or even both. We are delighted that this piece has found a new lease of life in the hands of another world-famous name”.
