Anne Eisenhower (1949-2022) was also the protagonist of an extraordinary family story, which led her to travel from adolescence with her famous grandparents on the transatlantic Queen Elizabeth to Europe, where she met the French president Charles de Gaulle, the former British prime minister Sir Winston Churchill and the Soviet premier Nikita Khrushchev. As her sister Susan claims: “Unlike me and our other siblings, Anne was creatively inclined, and this blossomed in her work as a designer and artist. She wasn’t attracted by Washington DC like the rest of us, but by the Big Apple. She was a New Yorker at heart. “In the late 1970s, after working with the design legend of New York Dorothy Draper, Anne Eisenhower founded her homonymous company, specialising in traditional residential design, obtaining prestigious awards. Anne was also an active philanthropist and was on the board of Casita Maria Center for Arts & Education for 25 years. The charities she supported included the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Jewish Heritage, the American Heart Association, and the works of inheritance of the Eisenhower family.
