Alongside the presentations and debates, a Fair will be held in a large exhibition area, where the producers can present their most recent equipment. The symposium will begin with a welcome reception on the evening of 23 August at the Kimberley Club, followed by a cocktail evening on 24 August.

NEGOZIATI IMMINENTI TRA NAMIBIA E DE BEERS
Mentre il Botswana e il gruppo De Beers hanno raggiunto un accordo reciprocamente vantaggioso al 50/50 sui diamanti, il governo namibiano si sta preparando a un possibile cambiamento nella sua collaborazione con la Compagnia di diamanti. In base all'accordo esistente, la Namibia riceve una modesta quota del 15% nella sua partnership con De Beers, che scadrà a maggio 2026. Il portavoce del Ministero delle miniere e dell'energia, Andreas Simon, ha confermato che sono in corso i preparativi per gli imminenti negoziati.
“Il ministero ha iniziato a prepararsi per le trattative che verranno. Inoltre, i termini di riferimento per i negoziati devono ancora essere determinati dal team di preparazione", afferma Simon. All'inizio di quest'anno, il ministro delle miniere Tom Alweendo ha espresso la possibilità di aumentare la quota di
entrate del governo dai diamanti locali, attraverso i negoziati con De Beers. Dopo il Botswana, la Namibia è il secondo maggior produttore di diamanti per De Beers. La produzione di De Beers in Namibia è aumentata del 51% , fino a 0,6 milioni di carati nel quarto trimestre del 2022, trainata principalmente dalla forte performance continuativa della nave per il recupero dei diamanti Benguela Gem e dal trattamento di minerali di qualità superiore nelle operazioni a terra.
IMMINENT NEGOTIATIONS BETWEEN NAMIBIA AND DE BEERS
While Botswana and the De Beers Group have reached a mutual 50/50 advantageous agreement on diamonds, the Namibian government is preparing for a possible change in its collaboration with the diamond company. According to the existing agreement, Namibia receives a modest 15% share in its partnership with
De Beers, which will expire in May 2026. The spokesman for the Ministry of mining and energy, Andreas Simon, has confirmed that preparations are underway for the imminent negotiations. “The ministry has begun to prepare for the upcoming negotiations. Furthermore, the terms of reference for the negotiations must also be decided by the preparation team”, states Simon. At the start of the year, the mining minister, Tom Alweendo, expressed the possibility to increase the government’s share of income from local diamonds, through negotiations with De Beers. After Botswana, Namibia is the second largest producer of Diamonds for De Beers. The production of De Beers in Namibia has increased by 51%, up to 0.6 million of carats in the fourth quarter of 2022, primarily driven by the strong continuing performance of the ship
to recover the Benguela Gem diamonds and by
the treatment of higher quality minerals in
ground operations.
