He was also fascinated by ancient jade, which was often the base for his unique cufflinks, for sautoirs such as the necklace of the double dragon of Martha Graham, in 1972, with its two large jade plaques. Loyal to his acclaimed passion for art in all its forms, the great jeweller drew inspiration from places and temples he encountered in life. A Scythian knob, seen at an exhibition at the Met in 1959, became the brooch of the rolled dragon covered in gems, of 1972. The geodesic cupola of Buckminster Fuller was behind the model of the Geodesic Dome Ring of 1965, in which the brilliant-cut diamonds are set in a gold
cage. The influence of Art Deco jewels is very evident, appearing in many works, especially those rich in black enamel and coral or engraved with rock crystal.

The Groove necklace of 1972, for example, is inspired directly by a similar pendant made by Jean Fouquet in 1929.
