MARCO ASCHI, born in Rome
in 1974, nurtured a passion for
art from an early age, inherited
from his maternal grandfather,
the painter and sculptor Raul
Rosi. He studies at the Art
Institute of Rieti, where he
obtains his Master of Arts
Diploma, in the Art of Metals
and Goldsmithing in 1993. He
dedicates himself to painting
and sculpture but has focused
on the art of goldsmithing for
many years, experimenting with
every aspect of the techniques
and workmanship, preferring
the burin, lost wax, manual
openwork, enamelling, chiselling, engraving to etching. In particular, the technique of lost wax allows him to create jewel-sculptures. He starts out using recycled materials such as cutlery and vintage buttons for his early projects and now usually uses sheets of steel, brass and silver. Over the years, Marco has focused on new techniques, of improvement and experimentation; to update himself, he attends individual and group courses such as wood sculpting with Maestro Stefano Arnodo from Valle d’Aosta, the technique of lost wax, with the goldsmith and sculptor Glauco Cambi and, again, the course of burin engraving held by Antonio Calzona, the well-known goldsmith from Catania. Recently, he has completed a setting course held by maestro Valerio Iacomini, while at the Officine di Talenti Preziosi he completed the creative workshop course which resulted in the collective exhibition “Miraculum Ornamentum” at Roma Jewelry Week 2023. The artist’s creations include the sculpture ring “Il Pensatore” which was recently reviewed on “The Jewellery Trend Book 2025+”, a leading publication for the prediction of international trends; other creations of his are on permanent display at the “Questione di Arte” showroom in Sacrofano, a charming medieval village north of Rome, where he has been running his business for more than 20 years. He is also part of the group of researchers of contemporary Jewelry, KoK (Kollettivo orafo Kontemporaneo) where he became acquainted with ADOR, Association of Jewelry Designers.
