BUCKLE COLLECTION
B“ uckles have always played a central role in fashion history thanks to their ability to adapt to the needs, trends and tastes of men and women in every
historical period”, says Samuele Magri, curator with Bianca Cappello of the exhibition “One thousand buckles, from the eighteenth century to the Dolce Vita - (Milleuna fibbia, dal Settecento alla Dolce Vita)”.
Running until the 17 March 2024 at the Bijou Museum in Casalmaggiore (CR), the exhibition narrates the history of the buckle, main theme of the extraordinary
collection of Enrico and Paola Pennasilico which, from the 1700s to the mid-1900s, highlights all aspects the multi- form reality of the artifact. The buckle, in the various types of examples in the collection, interweaves phenomena of custom, art and jewel along its historical journey, assuming social status symbols and contributing aesthetic, technological and material innovations. The Gallery of the prestigious Pennasilico collection includes thousands of examples in decades of passionate research and boasts buckles of great value together with small curiosities and totally original models: from the Rococo buckles for shoes of the 18th century in antimony and rhinestone, to the
