La mostra offre la panoramica di una straordinaria collezione di braccialetti contemporanei, che rivelano la creatività degli artisti che si sono dedicati a questa forma di gioiello, sempre attuale, dal 1948 ad oggi. Oltre 90 esemplari creati da artisti internazionali illustrano i significati culturali, politici e personali, avvolti attorno al polso di chi li indossa. La collezione inoltre rivela un'ampia varietà di tecniche tradizionali di lavorazione dei metalli, di metodi e materiali sperimentali e contemporanei. Molte opere sono di proprietà della curatrice della mostra, Helen Drutt, una rinomata educatrice, gallerista, autrice, mecenate e sostenitrice dell'artigianato moderno e contemporaneo. Helen Drutt inserisce un contesto storico e un peso accademico nel multiforme assemblaggio dei braccialetti in mostra.
The exhibition offers the overview of an extraordinary collection of contemporary bracelets, which reveal the creativity of the artists that dedicated themselves to this ever-contemporary jewellery from 1948 to date. More than 90 pieces created by international artists illustrate the cultural, political and personal meanings, wrapped around the wrist of the wearer. The collection also reveals a vast variety of traditional techniques of metalworking, of experimental and contemporary methods and materials. Many works are the property of the curator of the exhibition, Helen Drutt, a well-known educator, gallery owner, author, patron, and supporter of modern and contemporary craftsmanship. Helen Drutt adds a historical context and an academic weight to the multiform assembly of the bracelets on show.

La mostra di arte oceanica è stata ispirata all’Hillwood Museum da “Treasure of the Sea”, una copia del 1900 del famoso capolavoro del 1870 del pittore austriaco Hans Makart, raffigurante diverse figure allegoriche sullo sfondo dell’oceano. In mostra, accanto a questo dipinto e ad altri paesaggi marini, ci sono svariati oggetti realizzati con materiali rari e preziosi come corallo, perle, tartaruga e avorio, per evidenziare la bellezza di queste risorse, alcune sovrasfruttate dall'uomo. Si esplora inoltre l'uso di creature e forme ispirate al mare, come sirene e conchiglie, sia in oggetti utilizzabili che nell'arte. Viene proposta infine una selezione di oggetti contemporanei, realizzati da artisti del calibro di Morel Doucet, Courtney Mattison e Theo Mercier
e del designer Christian Louboutin.
The oceanic art exhibition has been inspired by the Hillwood Museum by “Treasure of the Sea”, a 1900’s copy of the famous 1870 masterpiece by the Austrian painter Hans Makart, depicting several allegorical figures on the background of the ocean. On show, next to this painting and the other sea landscapes, are various objects realised with rare and precious materials such as coral, pearls, tortoiseshell, and ivory, to highlight the beauty of these resources, some overly exploited by man. The use of creatures and shapes inspired by the sea is also explored, such as mermaids and shells, both in usable objects and in art. Finally, a section of contemporary objects realised by artists of the calibre of Morel Doucet, Courtney Mattison and Theo Mercier and the designer Christian Louboutin are also on show.
