L'attuale biennale riunisce in un'unica mostra un campione rappresentativo di gioielleria contemporanea realizzata in vetro, con materiali che vanno dal vetro borosilicato, al vetro di Murano e al vetro fuso, integrati da materiali come argento sterling, acciaio inossidabile, filo di acciaio, ottone e vari metalli preziosi. Inoltre, vengono mostrate le tecniche impiegate tra cui fusione, lavorazione a lume e lavorazione a freddo, fornendo uno spaccato dei diversi approcci utilizzati nel design contemporaneo di gioielli in vetro. Creata per far conoscere i nuovi talenti della gioielleria spagnola contemporanea in vetro, la Biennale ha ricevuto in tutto 171 opere da 87 artisti di 26 Paesi; fra questi la giuria ha selezionato 30 artisti e 50 opere provenienti da 12 Paesi, da esporre alla Biennale.
The current biennial brings together a representative sample of contemporary glass jewellery in a single exhibition. The materials, which range from borosilicate glass to Murano glass and fused glass, are integrated by materials such as sterling silver, stainless steel, steel wire, brass, and various precious metals. On show, are also the techniques used including fusion, lampworking, and cold processing, providing a glimpse of the different approaches used in the contemporary design of glass jewels. Created to promote new talents of contemporary Spanish glass jewellery, the Biennial received a total of 171 works from 87 artists of 26 countries; from these, the jury selected 30 artists and 50 works from 12 countries to exhibit/showcase at the Biennial.

La mostra si pone l’obiettivo di rimuovere la delimitazione fra “gioielli come moda” e “moda come gioielli”, concentrandosi sul loro ruolo integrale e inseparabile nel self- fashioning. Oggetti con perline, paillettes e scintillii sfumano i confini tra moda e gioielli: da una spilla o da una scarpa gioiello, a un anello cimelio o a un tubino nero, ogni selezione può rappresentare una varietà di storie ed esperienze vissute. Attraverso più di 100 opere della collezione del MFA, “Dress Up” celebra lo stile del XX e XXI secolo con la moda di Alexander McQueen, Bob Mackie, Pauline Trigère, Patrick Kelly e Oscar de la Renta; gioielli di designer come Hattie Carnegie, Lanvin, Elsa Peretti, Schreiner e Trifari; accessori di designer come Thom Solo; illustrazioni e fotografie di Cecil Beaton e Martin Parr.
The purpose of the exhibition is to remove the boundary between “jewels as fashion” and “fashion as jewels”, focusing on its full and inseparable role in self-fashioning. Objects with pearls, sequins and sparkles blur the boundaries between fashion and jewellery: from a brooch or from a jewel shoe to an heirloom ring or to a little black dress, each selection can represent a variety of stories and experiences. Through more than 100 works of the MFA collection, “Dress Up” celebrates the style of the 20th and 21st century with the fashion of Alexander McQueen, Bob Mackie, Pauline Trigère, Patrick Kelly and Oscar de la Renta; jewellery designers such as Hattie Carnegie, Lanvin, Elsa Peretti, Schreiner and Trifari; accessories of designers such as Thom Solo; illustrations and photographs by Cecil Beaton and Martin Parr.
