We continue with the article published on 18 KARATI n. 211 to introduce the second part of the artistic career of jewellery designer SARA LA FALCE.
In the continuous search for new artistic inspiration for her jewellery creations, during the last year of Artistic High School, Sara La Falce encounters the paintings of the master Alphonse Mucha, one of the most famous Czech artists, whose style fully reflects the trends of Art Nouveau. Mucha’s compositions are harmonious, his shapes are sinuous, and the palette features subdued colours. His preferred subjects are smiling sensual women, with soft shapes and delicate faces, usually surrounded by floral and ornamental motifs, consisting of buds, tendrils, symbols, and arabesques. Alphonse Mucha is a highly versatile artist and has worked in different areas of art and crafts, posters, interior design, paintings, sculptures and jewels, the latter are sometimes inserted into his works. Sara La Falce quickly identifies with the master’s style, as it responds to her own artistic demands and, in conceiving her projects, she is primarily inspired by several fundamental works by Mucha. The first is the painting “Amethyst,” of the series “The Precious Stones”, for which she produced a riviere necklace, with modulated segments, a line of brilliant-cut diamonds with the break of a navette-cut diamond; at the centre a tuft shaped pendant with movable petals that hold the oval amethyst, true star of the jewel. The second is the painting “Spring” (1900), of the series “The Four Seasons” for which she produced a necklace inspired by the magnificent flowers which the image of spring brings with it. The third is the painting dedicated to “Summer,” of the series “The Four Seasons” of 1896, for which she created a geometrically shaped band ring, inspired by the mosaic frames present in all the works; at the centre of the ring a bright red ruby imposes itself as the dominant motif.
