In 2014, the designer SIMONA DELLA BELLA creates the collection “IngranArt” a production of unique and exclusive “jewel-sculptures” inspired by “Time”, made with gears, dials and parts of antique precious and non- precious watches. Simona had previously dedicated herself to various sports and cultural activities: synchronised swimming practised as an athlete on the Italian national team, philosophical studies on Proust and the great existentialist thinkers to arrive at the artistic production of her jewels. All the themes which have characterised her life co-exist in her creations: the continuous search for beauty, sculptural strength, symmetrical perfection of the gears and the theme of time, which more than any other has always guided her mind and hands. Her artistic production stems directly from the concept of “destructuring” time through the physical decomposition of watches and by its “recomposition” in the design of a contemporary jewel with a strong symbolic meaning. The passing of modern time co-exists with the timeless one of the antique watch, which possesses the energy and charm of antique objects, which allow the artist to give life back to something no longer in operation: it is something magical, a sort of thaumaturgical power, a journey through time. The use of different materials, primarily brass, bronze, silver and gold, matched with the almost constant mechanical presence of the precision of the screw and the bolt, set on sections of antique watches, want to emphasise the human presence of this recovery of past time; they are the extra time of a symbolic choice, which wants to leave a trace of “living time”, with its marks, its ticks and its scars. Simona, the “Time Lady” has participated in many national and international art exhibitions, presenting sculptures, paintings and jewels, always inspired by the untiring search for time. In 2018, she made a permanent sculpture for the town of Morgex (AO) using the hands of the 19th century clock of the bell tower, while many of her works are exhibited in several prestigious art galleries.
Above: Triade”, band ring, supports a disc in steel in the shape of a toothed bezel of a 1950s table clock, rising at the centre in the shape of a degrading pyramid other brass and steel bezels bound at the top by a bolt.
At the side: “Venice”, necklace consisting of a composition of decorations of a pendulum clock in wrought brass with embossed technique. The three dials of the wrist watches by Lebois&Co. (Ch) and Lorenz (It), are held with screws and bolts, while the two set amethysts are secured with micro screws in silver.
